Traineeships
Traineeships across Maitland, Newcastle and the Hunter Valley
FBLearning offer Traineeships in the following Qualifications:
- Certificate III in Business
- Certificate IV in Leadership & Management
- Diploma in Leadership & Management
Adopting a Trainee is an excellent option to bring new people into your business. A Trainee may not necessarily have any previous office experience, however, in some instances, they have had exposure through their Business Studies at School in completing a Certificate II.
We take the work out of recruiting trainees
FBLearning will recruit the ideal Trainee for you. We will take care of the whole recruitment process, including:
- Advertising the Traineeship
- Sourcing Candidates from our Database
- Screening & Interviewing
- Aptitude and Skills Testing
- Reference Checking
Our intensive screening and testing process means you’ll only see the highest quality candidates for your role.
You will have the chance to consider which of the short-listed candidates best suits your business needs and hire your new trainee!
The Trainee will undertake a qualification as required, on the job and be hosted out as full-time trainee over a 12 month period. A Trainer will visit your premises on a regular basis to support the Trainee through their studies. The schedule for visits will be pre-arranged to ensure there is minimal disruption to your business.
Training is all on the job and as the host-employer, you are required to allow a minimum of 3 hours per week to undertake the learning needs of the trainee.
As the RTO, FBLearning will ensure the qualification and chosen units will encompass what your business needs.
You have the choice of engaging a Trainee through an On-Hire or Direct Engagement Model.

On-hire Model
This model will see FBLearning as the Employer of the Trainee and your business as the host employer.
You can get on with running your business and we’ll take care of the rest
When you become a Host Employer with FBLearning, we’ll manage everything from the recruitment, paperwork and induction to work health and safety, performance, and ongoing mentoring of your apprentice or trainee.
We take care of all training costs and will organise everything for you including liaising with NSW Education & Communities in relation to the signing of the Trainee and as the Registered Training Organisation, FBlearning will manage the training aspect of the traineeship and ensure the trainee keeps on track with their qualification.
As a host employer, your commitment to the Trainee would include mentoring, supervising and providing the opportunity for the Trainee to complete their training for a minimum of 3 hours per week on site.
We find, employ and train … you simply pay a weekly invoice.
All charge out rates incorporate the hourly rate of pay, training costs, superannuation contributions, worker’s compensation, payroll tax, public indemnity insurance and all administration costs and are in line with the appropriate Industry Award.
Our host employers are invoiced weekly.
Recruitment is free of charge and once the trainee is engaged, your business will be charged the relevant hourly rate dependent upon the selected Trainee’s level of school education.
Our trainee model is for the provision of a Trainee for 38 hours per week over 52 weeks – day work. It means that you will be charged 38 hours per week – 52 weeks of the year and the Trainee will be entitled to personal leave, annual leave etc. allowing them to feel a part of the permanent team.
If you are dissatisfied with the performance of the trainee, we would ask for an opportunity to correct the issue. However, you have the right to hand back the trainee with 1 weeks’ notice.
Should our employee’s hours exceed 8 hours in one day, or 38 hours a week, they are entitled to overtime – these rates will be provided in further detail should the on-hire option be your preference.
At the conclusion of their training, should the Trainee transition to direct employment with your business, a placement fee will not be applicable.
On the 1st of January the following year, the Trainee is entitled to a statutory increase as per the relevant award.
